University of Nottingham, Queen's Medical Centre

The medical school opened in 1970 as part of the Queen’s Medical Centre and was the first to be established in the UK in the 20th century. Major investments have been made to provide modern, high quality facilities. It is a mixed-use building comprising 7 storeys of accommodation including lab spaces, lecture theatres, a library and some patient areas. 

Alt Fire were appointed to develop a retrospective fire strategy that was sympathetic to the existing conditions of the building whilst ensuring that the evacuation strategy and other fire safety strategy elements were satisfactory and meeting fire safety objectives.
